Abstract

The Teachers’ Health Questionnaire was developed by Fernández-Puig et al. (2015) to assess teachers' work-related health status. The purpose of this study is to examine the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Teachers’ Health Questionnaire. Conducted using data collected from teachers working in different educational settings, the study's construct validity was assessed through exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. The factor analyses confirmed a scale structure comprising a total of 23 items and 6 subscales (satisfaction, self-efficacy, burnout, voice disorders, musculoskeletal disorders, and cognitive disorders). The internal consistency of the scale was assessed using Cronbach's Alpha coefficients; these values were found to range from .80 to .92 for each sub-dimension. These findings indicate that the Turkish version of the scale demonstrates strong validity and reliability, as well as an appropriate factor structure and high internal consistency. With this feature, the research offers the opportunity to comprehensively and practically assess the health problems that teachers encounter or will encounter in their working lives. Furthermore, it is thought that regularly monitoring teacher health could contribute to the development of policies addressing health issues in educational settings and the implementation of initiatives supporting teacher wellbeing. However, the fact that the study is based solely on self-reported data and a limited geographical sample limits the generalizability of the findings. Therefore, it is recommended that the results be supported by further research conducted on larger and more diverse samples.
