Abstract

'Dede' Süleyman Erguner was born in 1902 in Istanbul's Fatih Sultanselim district. He is one of the greatest ney masters of the 20th century. 'Dede' Süleyman Erguner represents the first link of the chain of ney practice, which is known as the 'Erguner Attitude-Echolu' in Turkish music written sources and which has been around for more than a century. A total of twelve songs, five songs, five divine, one nefes and a nazire in rast mode composed for the last sheikh of the Uzbeks Lodge, Ethem Özbek Kangay (d. 1971) There are eight instrumental works, including two oral, four peşrev and four saz semâî. The Özbekler Lodge is known as one of the important places where Turkish music was performed at that time. Due to the interest of 'Dede' Süleyman Erguner in lodges and his affection for Necmeddin Efendi, the last sheikh of the Uzbeks Lodge, the participation of the Erguner family in the musical meşks that were regularly performed in the Uzbeks Lodge with the masters of the time, after his death, Ulvi Erguner, son of neyzen (1924-1974), and grandchildren of neyzen. It continued for three generations with neyzen Kudsi Erguner (b.1953) and neyzen 'grandson' Süleyman Erguner (b.1957). In our study, the results of the ney taksim in the hicaz makam performed by the 'dede' Süleyman Erguner in the Özbekler Boat were evaluated in terms of notation, form, form, structure and modal transitions. In our study, we have also tried to give information about the relationship between religion and music, the Özbekler Lodge and the musical environments of the period.
