Abstract

The term Blue Economy first emerged in 2012 at the Rio+20 Conference, also known as the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD), but its origins date back to the 1992 Rio Earth Summit. Sometimes known as Blue Finance, ocean finance focuses on the supply and demand of capital for investments in ocean-related business ventures. The focus of ocean finance is the supply and demand of money to finance investments in ocean-related governance and economic activities.  This study provides basic information and updates on the blue economy, which has come to the fore alongside the concept of sustainability that has gained popularity due to the global climate crisis, and the concept of blue finance, an important component of the blue economy. In this context, the most common and well-known blue finance instruments, such as blue bonds and blue loans, will be explained, and major studies conducted in recent years on blue finance literature will be discussed.
