STORIES ABOUT EDUCATION AND TEACHING PROBLEMS IN VARLIK ANNUALS

Abstract

Preserving its place in publishing life from 1933 to the present day, Varlık magazine is one of the most respected literary magazines in Turkish press history. Varlık magazine and Varlık Publishing, which was founded later, contributed to the world of literature in many ways. One of the most important of these contributions is the Varlık yearbook. The first yearbook of Varlık was published in 1960. There are stories section in the annals published including 1977. The section containing copyrighted stories in the annals of 1978 and after has been removed. A total of 438 stories were included in the Varlık Yearbooks between 1960-77. 27 of these stories, as far as can be determined, were shaped around the issue of education. In these stories, the problems of teachers were generally told, and the education understanding of the 1960s and 70s and the problems of both teachers and students were revealed. The aim of the study is to introduce the stories in the Varlık Yearbooks between the years 1960-1977 and to evaluate the areas that deal with the subject of education from these stories. In this way, both the literary tendencies of the period and the educational issues as reflected in the stories were revealed. This study is structured with document analysis, which is evaluated within the scope of qualitative research method.
