Abstract

The research aims to examine and analyze the artworks that focus on the artistic representations of ecofeminist thought. These artistic representations, which became evident in the art world after the 1960s, were scrutinized through the works created by the artists of the period. Agnes Denes, Aviva Rahmani, Mierle Laderman Ukeles and Seniha Ünay, who were examined from an ecofeminist perspective, created their artistic works with a deep understanding and sensitivity towards nature. These artists have focused on the concepts of woman-nature by utilizing contemporary artistic means of expression and exhibition methods. By examining these conceptual processes, it has been observed that the ways in which the artists perceive and interpret nature have centered the issue of nature and women in their works. Agnes Denes, Aviva Rahmani, Mierle Laderman Ukeles and Seniha Ünay drew attention to the exploitation of nature and emphasized the idea of a link between patriarchal domination over women. Ecofeminist art has shown environmental awareness and criticism of the domination of both women and nature with an artist’s sensitivity. During the research process, art literature, archives, artist websites were examined in detail and publications with the opinions of critics, art historians and artists were utilized. The aim of this research is to contribute to the ecofeminist movement’s representation of women and nature in art.
