Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of artificial intelligence in education and the ethical issues that arise in this process. Based on this purpose, the study primarily focused on artificial intelligence and its role in education. Then, artificial intelligence ethics was discussed and suggestions were made by emphasizing ethical problems in education, which is the focus of the study. While the use of artificial intelligence in education has the power to transform education, it also brings with it different ethical principles. The use of artificial intelligence applications in the field of education raises certain questions about the collection, analysis and use of student data. As a matter of fact, this study examines the application areas of artificial intelligence in education and emphasizes the potential of innovative approaches such as personalized learning, evaluation systems and virtual teachers. However, the ethical problems caused by the practices should not be ignored. Privacy of student data, security of data, equality, and sensitivity to discrimination are some of the factors that should be taken into consideration in the use of artificial intelligence in the field of education. However, considering the responsibility of artificial intelligence in the field of education, it is important for educators to be transparent about how artificial intelligence works and to use the system equally. As a result, the integration of artificial intelligence in education brings with it both opportunities and challenges. Taking ethical principles into account is necessary for the effective and responsible use of artificial intelligence in the field of education. While evaluating the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence, the responsibilities brought by artificial intelligence ethics should also be taken into account. It is thought that this study will contribute to the studies in the literature and support it by filling the existing gap. It is inevitable that artificial intelligence ethics increases its importance day by day and is essential in the field of education, as in every field.
