Abstract

One of the most important factors in the survival and development of a society is to pass on its traditions, customs, music, art and above all its culture to future generations. The most important factor that makes this possible is cultural communication tools. One of the most important of these instruments is the minstrel tradition. Thanks to the oral or written tradition of minstrelsy, the cultural memory that sustains the society has been transferred from the past to the present and has become the determining element of the culture we live in today. Combining this culture with the values we live in today will enable us to shape our future. In this study, the tradition of minstrel singing is analyzed in the context of cultural and social communication and Aşık Beyhani's contribution to the transfer of cultural memory through cultural and social communication is examined.
