Abstract

The aim of the research was to determine teachers' opinions regarding the transformational leadership behaviors exhibited by school principals. For this purpose, the research asked: "What are the teachers' opinions regarding the transformational leadership behaviors exhibited by school principals?" The answer to the question has been sought. In the research, the phenomenology pattern, one of the qualitative research designs, was preferred as a model. In this context, the research tried to determine the transformational leadership behaviors exhibited by school principals in formal education institutions in an in-depth and comprehensive manner. The sample of the research consists of 20 teachers determined by purposeful sampling method. A semi-structured interview form was used as the data collection tool of the research. Interview data collected with a semi-structured interview form was analyzed using the content analysis method. While conducting content analysis, codes were created from the teachers' opinions regarding each question, and themes were created from the codes. In the research, it was determined that almost all of the teachers stated that there was no discrimination in their schools and that there was a democratic environment where everyone could freely express their opinion. In addition, the research found that as a negative result on this issue, very few of the teachers stated that there was no democratic environment in the schools where they worked, where everyone could freely express their opinions. In the study, it was determined that the majority of teachers stated that the transformational leadership characteristics of school principals positively affect school success. In the research, it was determined that nearly half of the teachers stated that teachers would be negatively affected in schools where school principals did not have transformational leadership qualities. In addition, it was determined in the research that when there is no effective leadership at school, turmoil and chaos will occur at the forefront among the problems that may be experienced. In addition, in the research, it was determined that more than half of the teachers directed their school principals to the school vision and made an effort to ensure that this vision was adopted, and that new projects in schools were supported by school principals, according to teachers' opinions.
