Abstract

Museums and art galleries have often been at the forefront, not only to explore new ways of representing art, but also to increase the interest of more people in the works on display, to unite and stimulate multiple human senses.

With the introduction of technology in museums, it is possible to see that the experiences that people have with many technological products and services in their daily lives and rhythms have been transferred to exhibition environments. How this experience creates a relationship with the interactive elements used reveals the functionality of interaction design and thus the functionality of exhibition design. In this study, while talking about innovative approaches in exhibition design, while the use of technology and its reflections are frequently mentioned through examples, it is not mentioned that only technology makes exhibition design innovative. Today, the main idea of the work of art is to enable the audience to interact with art. The participation of the viewer in the work of art is also realized in the form of the participation activity becoming a part of the work of art. In such interactive applications, art does not have to be completely digital.

In this research, the exhibition designs realized in museums were examined using qualitative research method through the examples determined.  It is seen that the traditional understanding of exhibition has undergone a transformation with the change in technology and societal expectations. As information technologies become more affordable, museums are working to integrate new technologies and continue to change their exhibition methods and designs.
