RESEARCH ABOUT THE INITAL PROPERTIES OF TEZYINI FREE ROAMING FIGURE
ABSTRACT
In traditional arts, oral culture is common. The "confusion" in written culture is about correct definitions and their "justification". Terminology problem still exists in the discipline related to "Ornament". Concepts related to fields have emerged under very different influences. The main ones are “materials, techniques and forms of application”. The "Cloud" motif is one of the best examples for this situation. "Cloud motif", one of the ornamental patterns, has a certain cross-stitch, but it moves extremely freely in the pattern. This form of it has been described as a “free-roaming cloud”. Based on the example of “free floating cloud”, designs with no repetitions, patterns consisting of free spirals that are not based on repetition are expressed here as “free floating patterns”.
Patterns in illumination generally show two different features in terms of the way they are drawn. These are "repetitive" and "free" patterns. “Repetitive patterns consist of duplicating a module with different methods. These are sometimes in the form of "symmetrical", sometimes helical folds. It is possible to express those who are outside of this group as “free”, “loose” or “free-roam”. Here, “non-repetitive” patterns are “free-roaming patterns, patterns that do not “repeat” in any way, although their initial characteristics may differ.
It is extremely important to examine the "free-floating" patterns, which constitute a group of ornamental design, in terms of their "place" and "drawing features". We can attribute this importance to two principles. One of them is “analyzing the patterns correctly” and the second is “leaving the patterns as a right legacy to future artists”.
In this study, illumination patterns that do not rely on any repetition were examined in terms of their drawing characteristics. As a result of these analyzes, it was determined that the patterns in question started from "any motif", "the spiral that rotates in itself" and "broken branch". Examples are grouped under these three headings
