Everything that is experienced about people occurs in a place and is kept in memory for generations with the name of the place in question. "I" and "we" play an important role in the formation of identity. In this context, place names provide information about people's values, beliefs and lifestyles. It also contains different connotations, cultural hinterland, ethnic and philological wealth. In a legend told in Karakoçan district of Elazig, there are the stories of 7 brothers and the villages named after these 7 brothers. Although these names are not used officially today, according to the story in this narrative, the change of these names in the historical process and the relationship of the narrative to the space will be discussed.
