Abstract

In the study, it was aimed to determine the organizational silence perceptions of the employees in the enterprises operating in the tourism sector. Survey model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the research. The universe of the research consists of active employees in various tourism enterprises in Mersin and Antalya provinces in 2022. The research sample is to create 252 tourism business employees determined by the easy sampling method among the tourism business employees in the universe. Two separate data collection tools were used to collect data in the study. The first is the personal information form to learn the personal information of the employees in tourism enterprises, and the second is the organizational silence scale to determine the perceptions of organizational silence. The data collected with the data collection tools in the research were analyzed with the SPSS 25.0 package program. During the analysis process, the normal distribution characteristics of the data were examined and it was determined that the data collected for the research showed a normal distribution. Parametric tests were used in the analysis of normally distributed data. Considering the sub-problems of the research, the data were analyzed with mean, standard deviation, Independent Samples t-Test and One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) tests. In the study, it was determined that the general average of the organizational silence perceptions of the employees in tourism enterprises was at the level of agree. In addition, it was concluded in the research that the organizational silence perception of the employees in tourism enterprises differs significantly according to the gender variable, and the organizational silence perception of the employees in tourism enterprises differs significantly in the individual silence sub-dimension according to the marital status and working time in the sector.
