Clothing is a fact which dates back to ancient times. People's instincts to protect themselves from the effects of nature have made clothing a fundamental necessity. Clothing is closely related to the cultural structures of individuals. It reflects the culture of a person and separates him/her from the others. In order to be different, people have created different lifestyles, styles and trends within the fashion cycle. This is reflected in each nation’s own clothing style and fashion. Fashion came to exist initially as the art forms which focused on the generation of new ideas about the human body. New clothing styles were created continuously in different time periods. The basic design principles which are primary for clothing design combine with the creativity of designer, and then turn into a product by adding a visual and functional value. There is a balanced link between each element of the clothing design principles. However, while designing, the design detail in each garment creates a balanced form both with each other and with the clothing design principles and elements. Clothing design comprises the following elements: silhouette, stripe, colour, direction, shape, measure, space, tissue, value (tone value), motion, light/shadow, pattern and figure. All the elements that make up the clothing design must be balanced with each other. One of the decisive elements of design in a garment design process, the interaction of sleeve models with visual design principles and their place in design elements is very important. In the study, in which the sleeve forms, one of the visual elements in clothing design, were examined, it was aimed to visually analyze the sleeve models of the clothes on the 17th century female figures. In the research, in which descriptive method was used, the data were obtained from the photographs of 17th century female figures. The sleeve forms, one of the determining factors of the clothing form, were analyzed in line with the 17th century clothing approach and synthesized in a systematic order. Selected sleeve models were evaluated and interpreted by taking the arithmetic average of each model. As a result, it has been seen that there are models with features that can be evaluated according to the design principles of the 17th century sleeve forms. In order to make the theoretical analyzes and explanations made in the research more understandable, the texts were analyzed by associating them with the visuals.
