Abstract

In the study, it was tried to determine the emotional labor levels of teachers and the change of emotional labor levels according to various variables. In the research conducted for this purpose, the scanning model was preferred. The universe of the research consists of classroom teachers working in primary schools. The sample of the study consists of 318 volunteer teachers who were determined by the "Easy Sampling" method among the teachers in the universe. In the study, the "Emotional Labor Scale" developed by Diefendorff, Croyle, and Gosserand (2005) and adapted into Turkish by Basım and Begenirbaş (2012) was used to determine the emotional labor levels of teachers. The data of the research were collected through online platforms and analyzed by processing into the SPSS 25 package program. Parametric tests such as “Independent Samples t-Test” and “ANOVA” were used in the analysis of the data, since the data showed normal distribution during the analysis process. In the study, it was determined that teachers' emotional labor levels were at the "Sometimes" level. In addition, in the study, it was determined that there was a significant difference between the emotional labor levels of teachers in favor of female teachers according to gender variable, and in favor of undergraduate teachers according to educational status. In addition, it was determined that emotional labor levels differed significantly according to the variables of professional seniority and working time at the current school. According to these results, it can be said that the variables of gender, professional seniority, educational status and working time affect teachers' emotional labor levels.
