Abstract

It is a known fact that there are security-based concerns in almost every field in our age. Along with the security foundation concerns, the units responsible for providing security have been affected by this change and development. Private security services are needed in the provision of security services in different countries of the world and in Turkey within the framework of the difficulty and need of providing public security in a wide area. In addition to the general law enforcement, which is responsible for providing internal security in Turkey, private security guards also serve as a complementary element to public security. Private security officers, who perform preventive law enforcement services and partly judicial law enforcement services, have important contributions to individual and social security, especially public security. In the study, the education process of those who want to be private security personnel in Turkey, the duties and authorities of private security officers were examined by using the method of qualitative research techniques. In the study; It has been concluded that there are three different ways in the process of becoming a private security personnel, these differences may vary in terms of quality, there are legal gaps in the legislation authorizing private security personnel, and new legal regulations are needed.
